Your kitchen or mine?

Ahhhh, I love baking pumpkin pie. Of all things I bake, that's the only thing that always turns out just the way it's suppose to be. I figured out that after years of cooking and baking ... I better leave the baking to my kid! Now she's a fantastic baker and the reason why is that she follows the recipe exactly. Now me, I like to substitute ingredients or toss in a little extra of this or that. I'm sure all you bakers out there are going ... oh noooo, you can't do that ... which is correct. Well you can, but most of the time your cookies or cakes won't turn out right. See, I'm an artist someone who enjoys experimenting with things, just like following an exact pattern for something to knit or crochet ... my hands just refuse to follow the rules that are written down and I end up making my own rules. Now with my arts and crafts I end up with a great result (well most of the time) but in baking that usually turns out to be a disaster so I stick to cooking, tossing in a little of this and a little of that, which the recipe doesn't call for is ok when you're making stew, or quiche or pasta dishes and I definitely leave baking to my daughter. She makes cupcakes that are to die for, and she makes them from scratch not from a box. She dreams of having her own cupcakery business some day and I must say I think she will definitely succeed!

So, talking about cooking and baking and making pumpkin pie last night made me think of putting together a treasury with kitchen items so voila ... enjoy! While I'm gonna have a piece of pumpkin pie.

Yes, yes, yes!!!! My treasury made it on Etsy's Front Page!!!

I was so darn excited to find out this treasury made it to the Front Page. As you can see going back through my blog, I've been trying for months to make a beautiful treasury good enough to make it to the front page. And ta-daaaaaa this one made it! A big thank you to all you shop owners whose items I picked to be part of this beauty. I used to get frustrated making all these treasuries and never making it to the front page but today just proved that hard work pays off in the end. And just when you think you want to give up and stop trying ... that's what happened to me this weekend a little voice inside of me said keep on going, don't give up. Funny thing is that I had started a treasury and forgot to save it!!! That's when I was ready to give it all up but I really don't give up easy so I started all over again and I made this one, the one that made it to the front page. I think it's worth putting this up a second time on my blog, what do you think?

City Mouse, Country Mouse and a sweet romance

Two treasuries I would like to share with you.

This first one named "City Mouse, Country Mouse" featuring my Critter Onion which could hold any little real critter or make a perfect little house for a young child to play with. The Curator's shop announcement says " I have been a fiber artist for 15 years. I create fiber art to experience color and share this experience with others. I enjoy creating energy from placing colors side by side.
My art relies primary on nature for its imagery. I hand-dye many of my own fabrics using paints that react with the sun. I also hand-carve rubber stamps and imprint shapes from nature onto my fabrics. Gingko and maple leaves, spirals, birds, snakes and abstract female figures are my favorites. I often further embellish my work with beads. You can find out more about me and my art on my website:, and on my blog:" What a clever treasury she put together!

Next is a treasury I made this evening. As I'm sitting here with cold hands working on my computer because our heater isn't working! They are suppose to instal a new part on Monday. Thank God we have a second heater in the upstairs of our house so I can go sit upstairs and get warmed up, brrrrr. Hope this treasury doesn't leave you cold!

Meet Lizzie my newest little hedgehog and a cute pink hat

I made this little lady to fit into her own little wicker basket! That's how she will travel to your house if you decide to purchase her. You can find her in my shop.

All creations are handmade with love, care and attention to the details, using high quality yarns and materials. All the items are ready to ship. And the treasury is named "A cozy rainy day"! I finally finished this owl. Poor guy has been hanging around for awhile waiting for me to put him all together. I had started him a couple of months ago but just haven't had the time to finish him. First I had planned on attaching wind chimes but I couldn't find any, then I purchased some big rusty jingle bells but then I came up with this little banner which I think suits him better. He's up for sale in my PurplePlatypus shop so go and have a peek.

Then I want to share this treasury with you which features my white crocheted felted pumpkin pincushion and lots of other cool items. In the Curator shop you will find fabric, tapes and notions for sale.

Lets check out some more treasuries

Jumping right into sharing some lovely treasuries I've been featured in.

This one is called "The woods are lovely dark and deep" featuring my felted slippers The curator sells fine art photos and specializes in alternative process photography, such as polaroid transfers. The painterly quality of the polaroid transfers and the variation of each print is beautiful. The equipment being used tends to be low tech: an older model Vivitar slide printer, polaroid 669 film and a film based Canon.

Next up is "New Autumn Hues" featuring my pumpkin hat by Curator " who sells warm and cozy fleece hats. Just in time for fall and winter. The hats are decorated with unique, hand made cherry wood buttons from a fellow Etsian from Kiev and are sized for the perfect fit. The handmade aprons are each a one-of-a-kind original. She uses the same patterns, but each is a unique combination of fabrics. She uses only high quality, 100% cotton fabrics and they are all pre-washed and dried to prevent shrinkage.

Next "Fall softly touched by Winter" featuring my felted slippers by Curator who sells beautiful decorated gourds.

Next is "Animal Hats" featuring my little mouse hat by Curator who sells Paper Ephemera, Craft Supplies, Destash, Art, Handcrafted Objects, Jewelry.
