Needle felted wool baby booties

Yeahhhhh, I was able to hand sew a few things today!  So happy my hand is starting to get better after surgery and having the cast removed.   I'm even typing a heck of a lot faster compared to yesterday so yesssssss, I'm a happy camper.

I had made these baby shoes before my surgery but needed to sew around the top and put a cord in it so that's what I did today.   I just listed them in my Etsy shop so if you are interested in purchasing a unique, sweet and oh so soft pair of needle felted baby shoes for that newborn this is the time to do it since I don't get to make these all the time.

Hand surgery - Done!

Well it's been a long time since I blogged but here I am!   Tomorrow I'm having my awesome purple cast removed from my right hand I can't tell you how happy I am to get this thing off!!!  Surgery was done on December 9th.  Week one I had a half cast on with a huge bandage as seen in photo one.  Week two they took all that off to check the wounds and put a full cast on as seen in photo two.  First full cast was on for 3 weeks.   Pin was removed 2 weeks ago after they took my cast off they removed a bead which was attached to the pin that held my thumb joint spaced apart so soft tissue could grow.  The doc removed 2 mm of bone on each side of that joint which will hopefully now have soft tissue grown in that space replacing the cartilage which had totally disappeared due to using that joint so much, knitting, crocheting, sewing, drawing, cutting, etc etc. etc.   I'm suppose to get a removable splint tomorrow which will be so much better then the cast if only to be able to wash my hand properly.   Having that pin pulled out of my hand was the weirdest feeling ever.   I'm not a baby when it comes to pain but I was a nervous wreck when I went to see the doc who promised me it wouldn't hurt.  You can see in the second photo the green ball on the side of my thumb which is what held the pin in place.   Before he was able to get to the pin he had to remove that ball.   I was very skeptical about that since he wasn't going to numb it and I must say the only pain I did feel was where he had to hold my hand stable while he pulled that pin out.  My husband took a photo of the pin but I need to get it downloaded to put it on here.    Anyways so glad that's over and done with.   So, I can't wait till tomorrow and find out how everything is healing.
