Always in my heart

Since I missed a couple of years out of this blog I thought I'd share some of the things that happened in between then and now.  It might not always be in chronological order.  Things that pop into my head will be popping up as they come to me.

Today I was thinking about the floral heart arrangement I made for my honey to put on his grave.  Looking at the pictures I want to make another one soon.  This next time I'll share how I go about making it with step by step instructions.  But for now, here are pictures of what the one I made looked like.

They are all real flowers, greenery and moss.  The base is a grapevine heart shaped wreath that I took apart and used only a few of the grapevines which I then wrapped with chicken wire to get the elongated shape of the heart.  I used oasis inside the chicken wire.  I used rosemary from our garden since that was one of the plants we always had to have in our yard wherever we lived ... it was his favorite herb so I made sure it was part of the arrangement.

Almost here ...

by that I meant, Christmas is almost here.  It just doesn't feel like Christmas yet.  It's still pretty warm here in Virginia for the time of the year.  To me Christmas weather should be icy cold, snow, wind and dark days.  I don't mind the sun peeking through but that just all reminds me of the Christmases back home in Belgium where I grew up.  I'm still coughing and my voice is still gone and just about every day I still get a fever, so frustrated this cold/flu thing just doesn't want to go away!    Anyway, here is the treasury I just made.  Hope you enjoy it.

The white pumpkin that finally felted!

Ahhhhh, silly white pumpkin that is! This is the pumpkin I mentioned in my prior post, the one that didn't felt. While I went ahead and wet felted it by hand I contemplated why it didn't felt in the washing machine like I have done many times in the past. I figured out it just stayed on top of the water due to the fact I had filled it with fiber fill before felting it. In the past I've always felted them before I filled them so there was never an issue. So problem solved I did it by hand and it ended up felting beautifully. I want to also thank Robin who commented on my prior post suggesting to stick it in a mesh washer bag with some marbles in it which would definitely prevent it from floating to the top! Thanks for that Robin, I will have to try that with my next felting project.

So here it is, it's up for grabs in my shop with more pictures to look at so go and have a peek.
Thanks for visiting my blog!

Another scarf

a little scarf, just enough to tie it or wrap it around your neck once. Love these blue colors they remind me of a beautiful beach somewhere. Will be listing it on Etsy in the coming week and it will be up for grabs at the Xmas market.

Getting ready for Christmas!

I made these cute soft baby shoes out of a piece of felt I had made a while back. The little rose buds I made using a bit of red felt and the organza ribbon makes them festive you think? They can always change the color of the ribbon if they get tired of the dark red one. I sold them at the market today but if anybody is interested convo me and I'll be happy to make a similar pair.
