Needle felted mom and baby hedgehog

I had made one of these last year and it sold so I thought I'd better make another one, this time I included a baby! They make really cute pin cushions or if you feel bad for poking them (hehe) you can have them just sitting around looking cute. They look really cute in a baby room so those of you looking for a unique baby shower gift this is it! As a matter of fact any of my felted animals would make a cute baby room decor. The baby hedgehog will easily fit into your pocket so if you want a pocket size conversation item he will be happy to be carried around. I do not recommend them to be purchased as toys for babies. Older kids should be fine.

I just listed them in my PurplePlatypus etsy shop http://www.etsy.com/listing/65442343/needle-felted-hedgehog-mother-and-baby so go and have a closer look!

Meet "Ducky"

So here he is ... all fixed up and ready to find himself a home! I had fun making this little guy. Wasn't too sure how he was going to turn out when I decided to needle felt real feathers on him. At first I thought he was going to have a "bad hair day" but then I decided he actually looked like he's still growing into his coat so I left him that way. Now his little bottom turned out too cute I think, he looks handsome from the front AND the back! hehe Anyway, I ended up having to put wooden skewers into his legs up through his chest to make him stand and not flop over so next time I will be using a wire frame instead. Now lets hope he finds himself a nice new home.

Itty Bitty Bunny her name is Sweet Pea

Here she is ... she started out with short ears but as I worked on her shape she looked so much cuter as a lop bunny so here she is. I don't have her in my Etsy shop yet since I'm still working on painting her little wooden basket she will be living in! I used Merino sheep's fleece and real angora bunny fleece to make her. Her eyes are glass beads. Sweet Pea is the easiest little pet you'll ever have to take care of.

Nola a Little White Sheep

Oh these are just too much fun to make! I had made an owl and a penguin, now Nola a little sheep and I'm working on a white bunny. I understand this can easily become an addiction! I have about 10 other things on my to-do list for today so the bunny will have to wait till later. Nola is in my Etsy shop waiting to be addopted into a nice home!

Pink Snowflake Scarf

This seems like a never ending project! But, it's almost done ... a little bit more work adding fleece on the back, then off to the basement for the wet felting process and maybe by tomorrow I can take pictures of it and put it on Etsy! I just wish I could somehow keep the real fluffiness of the edges the way they are now like in the pictures. Unfortunately after the wet felting part it will be down a lot except for the curly locks I used they will stick up a bit. If anybody knows of a way to keep this fluffy look let me know!!!

Blizzard December 09

Ahhhhhhhh, I love all this snow we're getting. Looks like I'm finally going to get my white Christmas, it might not be snowing on Christmas Eve or Day but at least there will be enough snow on the ground to still make it a white Christmas! yeahhhhh!

I finally got my pictures downloaded of my snowflake felted scarves I've been making so I figure today would be the perfect day to post them together with a picture of our dog, River who loves the snow just as much as I do.

More Christmas stuff for the Christmas Market and Etsy Shop!

The pixie/Christmassy hat I knitted with an acrylic yarn so it can be tossed in the washing machine and the dryer.

The little owl I needle felted with sheep's fleece and Alpaca fleece. They are both in my Etsy Shop so check it out if you like to see more pictures of the hat and the Owl.

I'm bummed ... yesterday I cut one of my fingers at work with the exacto knife. It's pretty deep and hurts when I bump into things. We wrapped it up pretty good and used a butterfly tape on it so I didn't need to get stitches. It's so darn inconvenient especially since I'm trying to make all these things for the coming markets. At least it's on my left hand, it could have been worse if it had been my right one. I can still knit ... although a heck of a lot slower then normal and the fuzz of the yarn gets stuck on the tape! I can felt, halelujah! Only thing I totally can not do right now is crochet, maybe in a couple of days when I can put a regular bandage on it I can manage. Anyway, typing is alright except when I have to type certain letters since it's my pointing finger that's got the booboo. Alright enough feeling sorry for myself ... my finger is starting to hurt so I'll stop for now.

Scarfs and more Felt Scarfs

Ok, I finally got some of my scarfs on Etsy. Everybody keeps asking me why I've never put any of my scarfs on Etsy so I finally did it. I think it's mostly because my Etsy shop is just ... well sitting there ... haven't sold but 1 thing that way. I have to keep adding things and taking them off a week later due to the fact I sold that item at the barn! But, I figured heck ... I'll give it a try since my scarfs are a bit more pricier then all the other stuff I make and sell (except for my figurines which I haven't had the chance to make more of lately), we'll see what happens having them in my Etsy shop. I guess I just need to get into gear and start advertising my Etsy shop especially with the barn closing down during the winter months I'll have more time to figure out how to get myself noticed more to the on-line world. Only problem is that everytime I find myself on-line I keep thinking of how much time goes into that and how much more felt I could create if I wasn't sitting in front of this darn computer!

Cute as a button ... well lady bug that is ...

My latest pair of soft fleece baby shoes made with the softest polar fleece. I needle felted the dots with 100% pure black alpaca fleece. I found the perfect ribbon at Joanne's covered with you got it ... lady bugs. They are for sale in my etsy shop so go and have a peek if you want to get a better look at them since I have more pictures listed on that site.
