Itty bitty hearts in a tin

These crocheted little hearts (6 of them) come in a perfect little metal tin.  I had crocheted these little guys and went looking for a box to put them in.  I couldn't believe it when I found these little heart shaped tin boxes in the wedding favor section of my local craft store!  I'll be making some more of these in different colors.  You can use these for so many different things.  Use them in scrapbooking, embellish your baby or kids clothes with them, turn them into earrings, glue them on a hair clip, use them for making a mini banner or garland, sew or glue some old (or new) buttons on top and turn them into a brooch ... I can keep on going listing more ideas on how to use them.  So, no excuse not to buy them! Click on this link to get to them in my BitsOfFiber shop: http://www.etsy.com/listing/92197481/heart-shaped-tin-with-crocheted-mini Then when they are all used up you have the cutest little heart shaped box left which you can use to store, sewing pins, paperclips, buttons, etc.  Makes for a perfect little Valentine's gift for that special someone!  I bet your mom would love one of these ... hint, hint!

Faux cake anybody?

I wasn't sure if I was going to turn this into a child faux cake toy or a giant pincushion. I decided for the latter since this will make a lovely Valentine or Mother's day gift. And, if somebody decides to purchase it for a child toy so be it. Only thing I want to make sure of is that if it's going to be played with they need to remove the three heart pins it comes with!

Anyway, here it is ... a sweet CALORIE FREE cake to please your sweet heart!!! Just listed it in my PurplePlatypus store which you can get to by clicking this link: http://www.etsy.com/listing/90000743/crocheted-felted-heart-cake-pincushion?ref=pr_shop

Go visit my shop to see more pictures of this yummy deliciousness.

Love beyond the moon and stars and Loving it!

Made these treasury based upon Valentines day again. This time I went a different route, not so many hearts but stars instead. Didn't want to go all red or pink so more on the darker, aqua, blue-ish and green-ish side. Then in the "Loving it" I went for black and white with a hint of red.

Baby hat and booties gift set, another treasury full of love and a dead fish

I'm always multi-tasking ... but sometimes it's better not too! Today was one of those days, you know the days I'm talking about. A million and one things on the to-do list and only 24 hrs in a day to get it done. So while I'm making dinner my kid decided to clean the big fish tank we have. I love looking at the fish but I hate cleaning the tank, always have always will ... heck I rather clean toilets then having to clean that tank. I think it all has to do with access to the darn thing. It's a very tall tank you see which makes it hard to clean. But my kid is taller then me now and can easily reach the bottom so she has taken on the job of cleaning the tank. I end up putting water back in it but that's the easy part. So while she was busily working on cleaning it I was making dinner while all the fish were removed and sitting in a bucket on the counter top, so Azriel and River (our cat and dog) wouldn't get the crazy idea to play with them. Well about 30 min later, dinner had been eaten and the tank was ready to get filled up with more water I stepped back into the kitchen to find one of our fish dead on the floor!!! So, I've given up on fish, my beta I replaced about a month ago, well his replacement decided he didn't like his new tank and died as well. I can't figure this out. We've always had fish and had them for years, for some darn reason we keep ending up with dead fish, which is a bummer because I do like my fish it's cleaning the tank I don't like.

Anyways, enough about dead fish ... I finally got a chance to take some pictures of my latest knitted baby hat and booties. These are really small so they are for a preemie or a newborn. I do love the colors I used in this set.

And a pair of my felted baby shoes made it in a treasury on Etsy entered into the nonteamchallenge 16 by http://www.etsy.com/shop/birose?ref=pr_shop_more. Check out her etsy shop which has all kinds of lovely button yoyo jewelry and gifts. The treasury is all about Valentine's day so check out all the cool items and shops that are listed in this one.

Two hearts later ... on the needle felting machine!

So I got to play with my new needle felting machine today a Singer ER10 and I love it! I made a couple of hearts and ended up making a Valentine's day cuff or you can use it as a cup cozy as well. I used a piece of white silk fabric and layered it with sheep's fleece, yarn, bits and pieces of scrap felt from other projects and went to town. It is so easy to use, the trick is to put the pedal to the metal to prevent needles from breaking. When you go flat out it's very easy to move the material around in different directions to do the felting. I noticed the best way is to move around in circles. I finished the back of the cuff with a piece of fulled cashmere/wool fabric from an old cardigan, the loop to close it is elastic thread which I crocheted and the button is metal. I put a couple brads onto the hearts, which I embroidered with some cotton thread and voila ... here is my cuff. It's for sale in my http://www.etsy.com/listing/64782836/needle-felted-mixed-media-valentine-cuff PurplePlatypus shop on Etsy where you can find more pictures of it as well.

Valentine stuff

I've been working on Valentine's Day items for my shop but the two I had finished are already sold and on the way to Oregon ... (Thank you Debra!). I'll have 2 more things for the shop, I just need to take pictures of them. The pictures in this post are of the items that sold.
