Unique gift for those feline lovers - felted cat fur/hair earrings

Our cat Azzie (Azriel) became part of our family when we were living in Alice Springs, Australia.  We adopted her from a friend of ours and when we moved back to the US she came along.  She ended up spending 3 weeks in a kennel in Sydney before she finally flew to Los Angeles where we picked her up.  She's been with us for 8 years now.  She's always been an indoor cat who loves to get brushed.  Since she seems to shed year round brushing her is a good thing.  If we don't brush her she gets matted even though she is a short hair cat. Needless to say I collect lots of hair from her so one day when I was brushing her I realized how good that fur felts so I when ahead and tried turning it into a bead, and voila!   Here you have it ... Azzie earrings!  I've been selling them at the Farmers Market and now I just listed them in Sofie's shop.  If you want to see more photos and are interested in purchasing a pair hop on over and check it out.  I have some more I will add in the next couple of weeks.  Now if you have a kitty of your own that sheds a lot and would love to get a pair of earrings made from her or his fur send me an e-mail and lets discuss.  I can felt with lots of different fibers but depending on what the hair/fur looks and feels like it's not always possible to felt with it so best thing to do is contact me and let's chat.
Here is the link that will take you to the earrings listed in our Etsy shop:

A beautiful autumn brown orangy pink nuno felted scarf

This one I made using a dark brown gauze silk fabric as the base which you can still see peeking through the felted parts.  I used a wool art yarn which has pink and orange colors running through it.  I used a tinted merino sheep's fleece in the middle and a nice brown for the edges.  The backside has a design for which I used a deep reddish pencil roving with a very fine layer of deep brown sheep's fleece.  This is a generously sized scarf which is more like a shawl I guess.  Will be taking it to the market on Sunday.  If you are interested in holding it for you or purchasing it on-line please convo me and we can figure out how to go about doing that.

This little cocoon with matching hat is perfect for those cute halloween, thanksgiving, fall/autumn pictures of that little pumpkin of yours.  Makes for a great photo prop for the photographers out there.  It's machine washable so easy to take care of if you take pictures of multiple babies.  Just listed it in my BitsOfFiber shop so click on the link to see more photos and all the info you need to purchase it.

Orange and green crocheted garland

I crocheted this with St. Patrick's day in mind but since I ended up having to fly back to Belgium during that time to take care of my mom I didn't get the chance to get this listed in my Etsy shop for St. Patty's day.  It comes in a chipboard heart shaped box which has a beautiful metal heart glued on top.  I decided to put it up in my shop now since it is orange and green I figured it can be used for fall, Halloween and really anytime of the year to brighten up a room.  You can see more photos and get more info by clicking on this link: https://www.etsy.com/listing/110741392/garland-bunting-orange-and-green-crochet

This time a lace nuno felted scarf

This scarf I made with lace, yarn and the softest Merino sheep's fiber.  I love the way it turned out.  Think I have to make another one to keep for myself!   This one will be going to the Farmers Market with me on Sunday so if you like me to hold it for you let me know.  You can contact me via e-mail.
This scarf has been sold.

Another pair of toadstool baby shoes

These are newborn size.  The bright blue wool is a mix of lambswool, rabbit hair and angora, soooooo soft and a very pretty blue.  The designs are needle felted with merino sheep's fleece.  I sewed a velcro closure on the straps so they can be easily adjusted to baby's ankle size.  These make great baby shower gifts.  People love to display them after baby has outgrown them.  They will be listed in my shop tomorrow.
THESE HAVE BEEN SOLD.

Another nuno felted scarf

THIS ITEM HAS BEEN SOLD.

I've been making nuno felted scarves for about 6 years now and still haven't gotten tired of making them.  Each scarf is a work of art, a one of a kind creation.  I love making them since I don't have to follow a set pattern.  My hands just do their thing and ta-daaaaa here is my latest one.  I'm kinda bumming because I'm having a rotator cuff issue in my left shoulder.  I just really really hope I'm not going to need surgery.  But then on the other hand so be it if I do.  Might actually be a good thing, getting it fixed and be pain free after it's all healed.   Except that I won't be able to do nuno felting for a while which would suck.   Wait and see what the doc has to say when I go back on Tuesday.  So for now I'm moving along making some more scarves, kinda in a turtle pace but I'm doing it.

This one I just finished yesterday.  I'm no longer putting them up in my Etsy shop.  I will have it for sale at the Farmers Market this Sunday so if you are interested in purchasing it from me on-line you will need to let me know before Sunday.  These do tend to sell fast at the Farmers Market that's another reason I don't put them in my Etsy shop at this point.

Let me know what you think.
