Classy felines!

You know my dad passed away only a couple of months ago and while we were keeping my mom company during that time a cat had started to show up at her house. To make a long story short ... the cat ended up having a litter of kittens, four of them so my mom has now become a cat lady. We all know how silly kittens can be when they start playing around, chasing everything that moves, tackling their little brothers and sisters including mom, etc. Well they certainly have brought happiness into my mom's live. God took my dad and gave this cat family a chance by making my mom's life without my dad a little bit of sunshine. I love to hear her talk about all the silly things her little cat family has been up to. They keep her busy, feeding, cleaning their beds, etc. but most of all they make her smile again. So, in honor of the entire kitten caboodle I made this treasury. You see my mom is a very classy lady and everything in this treasury certainly made me think of her. Enjoy!



p.s. I'm including a photo of our cat, Azriel who we adopted while living in Australia. She traveled with us back to the US. Funny thing is that she's always been an indoor kitty so it makes me wonder ... does she have a clue that she's been living in a different country?

Your kitchen or mine?

Ahhhh, I love baking pumpkin pie. Of all things I bake, that's the only thing that always turns out just the way it's suppose to be. I figured out that after years of cooking and baking ... I better leave the baking to my kid! Now she's a fantastic baker and the reason why is that she follows the recipe exactly. Now me, I like to substitute ingredients or toss in a little extra of this or that. I'm sure all you bakers out there are going ... oh noooo, you can't do that ... which is correct. Well you can, but most of the time your cookies or cakes won't turn out right. See, I'm an artist someone who enjoys experimenting with things, just like following an exact pattern for something to knit or crochet ... my hands just refuse to follow the rules that are written down and I end up making my own rules. Now with my arts and crafts I end up with a great result (well most of the time) but in baking that usually turns out to be a disaster so I stick to cooking, tossing in a little of this and a little of that, which the recipe doesn't call for is ok when you're making stew, or quiche or pasta dishes and I definitely leave baking to my daughter. She makes cupcakes that are to die for, and she makes them from scratch not from a box. She dreams of having her own cupcakery business some day and I must say I think she will definitely succeed!

So, talking about cooking and baking and making pumpkin pie last night made me think of putting together a treasury with kitchen items so voila ... enjoy! While I'm gonna have a piece of pumpkin pie.

Yes, yes, yes!!!! My treasury made it on Etsy's Front Page!!!

I was so darn excited to find out this treasury made it to the Front Page. As you can see going back through my blog, I've been trying for months to make a beautiful treasury good enough to make it to the front page. And ta-daaaaaa this one made it! A big thank you to all you shop owners whose items I picked to be part of this beauty. I used to get frustrated making all these treasuries and never making it to the front page but today just proved that hard work pays off in the end. And just when you think you want to give up and stop trying ... that's what happened to me this weekend a little voice inside of me said keep on going, don't give up. Funny thing is that I had started a treasury and forgot to save it!!! That's when I was ready to give it all up but I really don't give up easy so I started all over again and I made this one, the one that made it to the front page. I think it's worth putting this up a second time on my blog, what do you think?

City Mouse, Country Mouse and a sweet romance

Two treasuries I would like to share with you.

A cozy rainy day and Wishing for snow

I love a rainy day I don't care what anybody says and it was great since I had the day off! Didn't really have time to cuddle up on the couch with my knitting since I had to run errands but still, I love a rainy day like today. Little Pink Elf baby hat

I had so much fun knitting these baby hats a couple of weeks ago for a customer I couldn't resist making another one. This one is in pink. All the others I had knitted where with blue colors because they were for a couple of boys. Felted Doll hat with Americana flower and ribbons

I had made this little hat thinking I was going to use it on one of my art dolls but changed my mind and made a totally different one for my doll. I love the combination of white and red for Christmas items. I just finished knitting this little baby Christmas hat http://www.etsy.com/listing/83290932/cream-and-red-baby-christmas-hat . It's a cream colored yarn with a bright red knitted in acrylic yarns so it can be tossed in the washing machine for easy care.

Rusty Fall

I can't wait till the trees in our street turn into their yearly bright yellow awesomeness! I love fall in Virginia, well not only in Virginia of course I just love fall. So in the meantime while I'm patiently awaiting for the trees to turn ... I made another treasury this morning.

Punkin Babees

Couldn't resist making a treasury with all these cute pumpkin babies and of course some kitties and dogs mixed in all dressed for Halloween! This treasury makes me smile when I look at it, hope it does the same for you.

Needle felted Christmas Polar Bear and another cute hedgehog pincushion

This little hedgehog is related to all the other ones I've made in the past. I love making these, they are so much fun. I made them while I was in Belgium during the summer.

The baby bear I also made while I was in Belgium but finished his Christmas hat and scarf when I got back home to Virginia. He can be used as a pincushion as well or just for decoration.
