Finally some pictures!

Yeah, now that I'm home I can download the pictures I took while I was in Belgium taking care of my mom.  Some pictures of her cats.  Pictures of the three figurines I made and pictures of the baby elephant toy I made.  The Elephant toy will be for sale in my Etsy shop in the next week sometime.  The little bunny I made for my niece's birthday.   I made a bunch of other things but I haven't taken pictures of those yet.  I was hoping to take some today but due to the rain I couldn't.  But at least here are some of the pictures I promised!

Classy felines!

You know my dad passed away only a couple of months ago and while we were keeping my mom company during that time a cat had started to show up at her house. To make a long story short ... the cat ended up having a litter of kittens, four of them so my mom has now become a cat lady. We all know how silly kittens can be when they start playing around, chasing everything that moves, tackling their little brothers and sisters including mom, etc. Well they certainly have brought happiness into my mom's live. God took my dad and gave this cat family a chance by making my mom's life without my dad a little bit of sunshine. I love to hear her talk about all the silly things her little cat family has been up to. They keep her busy, feeding, cleaning their beds, etc. but most of all they make her smile again. So, in honor of the entire kitten caboodle I made this treasury. You see my mom is a very classy lady and everything in this treasury certainly made me think of her. Enjoy!

p.s. I'm including a photo of our cat, Azriel who we adopted while living in Australia. She traveled with us back to the US. Funny thing is that she's always been an indoor kitty so it makes me wonder ... does she have a clue that she's been living in a different country?

Let's go shopping! And oh no ... the kittens are missing!!!

Who wants to go out in this heat and melt!!!??? Not me!!!! So, get comfy in your (hopefully) cool (meaning air temp and of course the other kind of cool is ok as well! ha) place and check out all these items I listed in more treasuries. Here they are:

This first one I named "Chique Munchkins" just because all the pretty items I picked really reminded me of my mom. She loves to use the word "chique" and what she means by that in Flemish is a bit above the levels gorgeous/beautiful.

Next up is "Dreams and wishes". When I made this treasury I was sitting here in front of my computer wishing for certain things to happen in the near future and voila ... a new treasury was born!

Last one for today is "Green with ivy" which is kinda funny because I really didn't mean to use that title to begin with. A lot of times I just make the treasury first and then name it once it's all put together. At first I was going to name it "Green with envy" but then I noticed the ivy picture and changed it.

Well I'm a bit sad ... I got a message earlier today letting me know that the mama cat who had her litter of 4 kittens in my mom's garage, has moved them out of the house. I haven't talked to my mom yet this message came from my brother so I will have to give mom a call first thing in the morning since it's in the middle of the night now in Belgium I don't want to wake her up! I know mama cats, especially first time mothers will move their litter around and she isn't a house cat to begin with I'm surprised she hasn't tried moving them earlier. I just hope the kittens are all safe and she will bring them back to stay with my mom who will be more then happy to have them back. Silly cat!!!

Bunnies, kittens, etc ... I can smell them now!

Today at work I had been spray painting and using painters pens which I use every day doing my job, when Chef Tina (Cooking Department kind of chef) came walking into my studio. She stood there for a few moments and took some very deep breaths. I was about to apologize for those smells when I realized she was enjoying those smells!? She said it reminded her of her dad when she was young he had a home business painting and the smell made her fondly think back of when she would visit with her dad. So we started chatting about smells and what they remind us of and why. Here are a couple of smells that make me go back in time ...

The smell of fresh cut grass ... when our dog comes back into the house after the lawn has been cut he smells like bunnies! ... as a little girl I used to help my grandfather gather the fresh cut grass and help him put it into the rabbit cages, I especially liked helping when they had babies. So the smell of fresh cut grass on our dog makes me think about all those wiggly little bunnies.

When the handyman at work cuts wood ... for making display stands, etc. he does it just around the corner from my studio it makes me think of kittens! My grandfather was a furniture maker and he had a huge workhouse (werkhuis is what we used to call it in Flemish) full of industrial machines. We used to have 15-20 cats around to keep the mice population under control in het werkhuis so we always had litters of kittens. They used to smell like the woodshavings since the cats usually ended up giving birth underneath the big machines in the woodshaving piles! So, every time Gary cuts wood I think of piles of kittens.

The smell of a diesel engine ... reminds me of an old boyfriend ...

The smell of a fresh cut pine tree ... reminds me of the first year I went to get a real Christmas tree and carried it across town with my best friend ...

I'm sure there are more smells that reminds me of happy things. Funny how it only makes me remember happy things, I've never associated smells with bad times .... except our dog just farted laying right here next to my chair ... geez dog ... good timing I must say ... time for me to leave the room!!!!

Love to hear if any smells take you down memory lane ...

(the bunnies in the foto are Sweet Pea an Little Miss, these were French Lops we had when we lived in Marshall Virginia)
