Christmas and Halloween Spider

Finished!   My Christmas spider has become a Halloweeny Spider.   Not for sale.   I put it up in my crafts room.

Ahhh, the legend of the Christmas Spider … funny thing is that I was born and raised in Belgium which means Germany is right next door to us and I just now heard about the Christmas Spider.  How can I have lived this long (not going to give you my exact age but I’m well over 50!) and never heard this story before.  I just happened to be looking at Pinterest and saw some gorgeous spider ornaments.   I actually hate spiders … I know hate is a bad word but I just can’t stand the idea of one crawling on me.   I have no trouble just looking at them and I’ve seen some pretty big (read HUGE) ones when I lived in California and in Alice Springs, Australia.  Anyways, thanks to Pinterest and Google for telling me all about the Christmas Spider story.  And yes, after reading about them and seeing them I ended up making some.  I thought of selling them but so are a bazillion other people doing that so I decided to keep them for myself.  I found a pretty simple faux wood oval frame at the local thrift shop a while back which makes for the perfect frame to put one of them in, or on I guess.  The colors of the beads match the faux wood and with using the black felt as the background makes the spider really stand out.  I guess it makes it look more Halloweenish then Christmassy but I figure that will be my excuse for having her hanging on the wall during Halloween and I can actually remove just the spider to hang up in my tree.  I made the little green one first, not sure how it would turn out.   I then made the white one and lastly the one I’ll be using for my frame.  I will post a picture once I have it all put together but here is a preview of the bits and pieces and of course the actual spiders.
